What is hyper realism

Hyper~Realism is a painting that is designed to observe something in life very closely. It is made so well as to seem like a photograph from a short distance.

How it Is made

All of the paintings are made from photo reference. First I take a photo shoot with the model(s). The colours in the painting are created by a spectrum glass. To create these kinds of colours the glass needs sun light and the photo shoots are all done outside.

Once the photos are taken and one is chosen, the process of designing the size of the painting, and making the canvas by hand begins. Once the canvas is ready, the painting is drawn and two layers of paint are applied to create the finished work of art.

What is the series with Eyes and flowers?

I like to promote the idea of people being united. As people, overtime we improve our standards of living, our understanding of the world around us. These improvements happen by cooperation among ourselves and with nature. We can gain empathy for the world and people around us the more we understand and work together. The eye is like a finger print, it uniquely identifies us and yet it's unclear who the model is, where they come from, what religion they follow, sometimes even what sex they are. Cooperation and admiration for each other doesn’t need to come from an idea. You can see it in everyone’s eyes.

With this series I try to create a sense of overall world community, which is probably influenced by my upbringing in Canada, a very multicultural society.

Not only is it beautiful to look at but the spectrum glass is a recognition of all science has done to unite humanity, to improve living conditions and to give us hope for the future.
