D.S

b. 1987 David Shepherd is a Realist/Hyper Realist Artist who paints exclusively in oil on canvas. Born in Canada, David showed an interested in the visual arts starting at the age of 3. As a teenager he would continue to increase his skill by copying comic books in his spare time. During high school he was introduced to paintings by Rembrandt and Salvador Dali and was enamoured with the idea of creating something as beautiful and meaningful for his career. For 3 years David embarked on a journey participating in juried exhibitions around Ontario with self-taught paintings he had created. His educational breakthrough came when a framer introduced him to the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, a school with the highest Realism standards using a curriculum based on the 19th Century French Academic system made famous by William Bouguereau.

Since graduation Mr. Shepherd has carved out an international career as a Realism Artist. After his educational hiatus, exhibitions began again in his city of Hamilton and Toronto and found success in these local group and solo shows. In 2018 Mr. Shepherd became interested in pursuing Hyperrealism with the goal of reaching the American market. After creating a small line of works in the Hyperrealism style, he was able to finally find entrance and success in the America starting with West Palm Beach and then in San Francisco. Looking to create a completely unique style of composition, in 2021 he started a series of paintings that show an eye, surrounded by flowers with a triangular prism light effect being shown. This series has been extremely well received opening up worldwide attention.

Today he is married, with two sons, and works out of his house studio in beautiful Stoney Creek, Ontario. In his private life he is a believer in Taoist philosophies and in health and wellness including resistance training, sports, yoga, meditation and diet. He also has a great curiosity with science, specifically the subject of Physics.
